The Lily Mae Foundation

"She was here for seventy-four days. She changed us forever."

Her story

Lily Mae arrived on a Tuesday morning and made the whole room feel different.

She was small and fierce and full of something — her parents called it light. In the seventy-four days she had, she was held, sung to, read to, and loved by everyone who met her. Her dad said she had her mom's eyes and her grandmother's stubbornness.

She passed on May 17, 2021, surrounded by her family. She left behind two parents whose love for her has nowhere to go but outward — and so The Lily Mae Foundation was born.

"We didn't know what to do with all this love. We still don't. But we knew we couldn't keep it to ourselves. Lily would have hated that."

Families served

What it means to the people we reach.

"We were at the hospital for eleven days and had nothing — no food, no way to pay for parking, no one to talk to. The Lily Mae Foundation showed up on day three with a bag of groceries and a card. I still have the card."

— A mother served by Lily's Family Fund, 2023

"The monthly grief gathering was the first place I didn't have to explain myself. Everyone there already knew."

— A father in the Grief in Community program, 2024
